      <image:caption>Our third golf tournament was held on October 21, 2024 at Highland Pines Golf Course. We had 14 teams register to play. Leading up to the day of the tournament we were able to raise $19,665. Our tournament included raffling off a putter, four contest holes, homemade barbecue and more. The tournament was followed by a donated dinner of pulled pork sandwiches with sides and awards. The weather was hotter than we would have liked, but were were thankful for a breeze and sunshine, a lot of food and drinks, and coming together to find a cure. Click below to see pictures from the day! We hope to see you at our fourth annual tournament.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Initiatives - St. Timothy VBS Partnership - June 2023</image:title>
      <image:caption>St. Timothy Lutheran Church approached Wesson’s Wish about being the recipient for their 2023 Vacation Bible School offerings. The week started by sharing the story with all the kids in video form. They got to see pictures of Wes as well as hear from his parents on what EB is and how Wesson’s Wish was created. The kids were then encouraged to bring any and all change they could to donate towards research. The initial goal was $1,000 and the kids blew that out of the water. Their ultimate prize was the Children’s ministry director and Wes’ mom being slimed! Talk about gross! We are so thankful for every child who showed the hands and feet of Jesus, they may be small, but they are mighty.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Blog - Grief with No Hope - All we should be experiencing in this life is hurt, pain, and loss. All of the struggles, concerns and ones gone too soon is not because of Jesus’ plan, it is actually the exact opposite. Jesus did not plan anything but perfection. Humans were made, and sin occured causing all the pain and hurt we experience today. God owed us nothing, yet He sent His only son to die for us so that we could have the hope of eternal life.</image:title>
      <image:caption>This life on earth is only a blip on the radar. We can not even begin to fathom the perfect life and unity we will live with Jesus and all of those who believe this one day. This is the hope we are called to grieve with. Now, I am NOT saying we will not experience the stages of grief. I am not insinuating that we shouldn’t cry, show pain, show sadness and miss our loved ones. What I am saying is that we are called to grieve differently. By grieving with hope knowing that this is not the end of us, we are shining and showing Jesus to others.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Blog - “No, he can’t die.” - “Wesson has JEB-Severe. I am so sorry”</image:title>
      <image:caption>Words I will never forget, a day I will never forget. I dropped the packet handed to us during that meeting with Wes’ team, fell to my knees from my chair and started screaming “No, he can’t die, he can’t die. This can’t be right.” Never did we think we would lose our son. I don’t know if it was because we wouldn’t let ourselves go there, or because of his fight we saw daily, or because of the rose colored glasses I wore the 47 days leading up to this moment. Terminal, Wes was terminal. A word you never want to hear associated with a loved one, let alone your child. These pictures were taken moments after we heard the news. After collecting ourselves in the family room and calling our parents to deliver the news, we chose to put on a face and be as strong as we could for our little man, as we knew our days with him were numbered and he was so in tune to our emotions.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Blog - “No, he can’t die.” - I wanted to pray, to keep giving it to God, yet I was so confused, so angry. None of this made sense. Why us?</image:title>
      <image:caption>I asked Jake if I could call the pastor that married us and baptized Ry to come up to the hospital. This would be the first time we asked for that support. Jake was indifferent, but told me, “if you think it will help you, go ahead and call him.” I wasn’t sure what would help me. We did something we had never done before and went on a walk outside of the hospital. I remember us coming to a curb, both sitting down and tears just flowing from our eyes. Usually we took turns having bad days, but this day we both were feeling so hopeless. I called Pastor Gene, and at the drop of a hat he was there. I still don’t know how he got there so fast. He walked into the room where Wesson and we were. The first thing he told us was, “this sucks, this is not how it is supposed to be.”</image:caption>

      <image:title>Blog - Now what? - Something I never thought about when hearing of a miscarriage or infant loss, was the nursery. You spend so much time and effort in creating a space for you to spend hours awake soothing and feeding your soon to be newborn. We incorporated some personal touches to Wesson’s room. My dad hand made a sign to go over his crib, with bible verses and a special note from him on the back. We hung up the cowboy hate of my late Aunt Karen, as well as an old hat of Ry’s for her bubba to wear at a later time. We had the diapers, wipes, breastfeeding cart, and diaper genie in place. The clothes were washed and separated by size…</image:title>
      <image:caption>…but then he never came home to us. For over two years his room was left how it was set up with the door mostly shut.</image:caption>
    </image:image>

      <image:title>Blog - Now what? - That next week in June 2023, we did both. Jake moved Wes’ ashes to a place I did not know, and the cleaning began. Many tears were shed as I stood in the room, Jake asked, “What part is easiest for you to do? or I can do this all by myself, you tell me.” As much as I wanted to throw my hands up and let him do it, I knew I needed to do this for healing. The cleaning begin. The tears flowed. I am quick to hold back the tears, put on a strong face and get the job done (not a healthy trait.) This time, I let myself feel all of the feels. We dissembled it all, got rid of some, stored some, and kept some. This picture to the right is all that was left of our Wes on earth.</image:title>
      <image:caption>Once comparing the first picture of his room and belonging to this, it really hit me.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Blog - Child-like Faith - The conversation went as follows:</image:title>
      <image:caption>Ry: “Momma, I love bubba’s song. Can we see him again?” Me: “We will get to see bubba again in heaven, where he will have perfect skin and not be sick anymore.” Ry: “Well I really love when you sing bubba’s song to me before bed time. When we get there, can you sing me and bubba his songs? I think he would love that.” Me: with tears streaming down my face amongst a huge smile imaging what that day will be like, “of course sweet girl, we can all sing bubba’s songs together once we are all in heaven”</image:caption>
